How to Summarize Long Discord Voice Meetings Automatically

Turn hours of Discord voice chat into a short, readable recap. Here's how to get automatic AI summaries of your Discord meetings, with custom prompts.

A two-hour voice meeting on Discord is great for getting things decided. It's terrible for remembering what you decided. Nobody wants to re-listen to two hours of audio, and nobody wants to be the person typing notes the whole time instead of taking part.

That's what automatic summaries are for. NoteCat listens to the whole call and hands you a short recap you can actually read. Here's how to set that up with NoteCat.

Why automatic summaries beat manual notes

  • You stay present. No more half-listening while you type.
  • Nothing gets missed. The summary comes from the full transcript, not from whatever one person managed to catch.
  • It's instant. The recap is ready the moment the meeting ends.
  • It's consistent. Every meeting gets summarized the same way, which makes them easy to scan later.

How to get an automatic summary of a Discord meeting

1. Add NoteCat to your server

Invite NoteCat to your server.

2. Record the meeting

Join the voice channel and run /record. NoteCat transcribes the conversation in real time as everyone talks.

3. Stop, and get your summary

Press End Recording, and NoteCat saves the recording. It then takes the full transcript and writes up a clean AI summary with the key points. Everything lands on the web dashboard: the summary, the full transcript, and the saved audio, which you can play back or download whenever you need it.

Make the summary fit your meeting

Not every meeting wants the same kind of recap, so NoteCat lets you set custom summary prompts. Premium and Pro servers can pick a default style for every recording, including:

  • Meeting Notes for structured minutes
  • Action Items for just the to-dos and who owns them
  • Casual Recap for informal calls
  • Gaming Session and D&D Session for recaps tuned to play
  • A fully custom prompt where you write your own instructions

If one meeting needs something different, you can override the prompt on that single recording and regenerate the summary.

Handling really long meetings

Long calls are exactly where summaries earn their keep. Because NoteCat works from the complete transcript, the length of the meeting doesn't really change how usable the recap is. A three-hour call still collapses down to something short and skimmable.

Better summaries start with better transcripts

A summary is only as good as the transcript behind it. If your meetings are full of project names, acronyms, or unusual terms, add them to NoteCat's custom vocabulary. They'll be transcribed correctly, which means they get summarized correctly too.

Stop taking meeting notes by hand

Let the bot do it. Invite NoteCat, run /record at the start of your next meeting, and read the summary the second it wraps up.
