Custom summary prompts let you control the style and focus of AI-generated summaries. Choose from built-in presets or write your own instructions.
Set a Server Default
- Open the dashboard and select your server
- Go to Settings → Custom Summary Prompt
- Select a preset or choose Custom to write your own
- Click Save Changes
This applies to all new recordings on your server. Individual recordings can override it.
Override for a Single Recording
- Open a recording from the recordings list
- In the Summary section, click Customize Summary Prompt in the top right
- Select a preset from the dropdown — the summary will regenerate immediately
- To use a custom prompt, select Custom, write your instructions, and click Regenerate Summary
Presets
| Preset | Best for |
|---|---|
| Standard | General-purpose summaries that scale with conversation length |
| Meeting Notes | Structured notes with topics, decisions, and follow-ups |
| Action Items | Extracting tasks and who is responsible |
| Casual Recap | Informal, conversational recaps |
| Gaming Session | Highlights, clutch moments, and funny fails |
| D&D Session | Campaign notes with story beats and character moments |
Custom Prompts
Choose Custom and write your own instructions. The AI will follow your prompt when generating the summary.
- Keep instructions clear and specific
- Maximum 500 characters
- The AI will always keep summaries under 4000 characters regardless of instructions
Example prompts:
- "Focus on technical decisions and code changes discussed"
- "Write in bullet points, group by speaker"
- "Summarize in Spanish"
Tips
- Presets are a good starting point — try a few to see what fits your server
- Use the server default for your most common use case, then override individual recordings when needed
- Regenerating a summary replaces the previous one
