How to record and transcribe Discord voice conversations
Type /record in any text channel while in a voice channel to start recording.
How It Works
- Invite NoteCat to your server
- Join a voice channel
- Type
/recordin any text channel - NoteCat joins and starts recording
To stop: click End Recording on the message NoteCat posts in the text channel.
Who Can End a Recording
Any of the following can end an active recording:
- The person who started it
- Anyone currently in the voice channel
- Anyone with Manage Server permission
NoteCat also automatically ends recordings after 2 minutes of inactivity (no one speaking).
What Gets Captured
- All audio from everyone in the channel
- Join/leave and mute/unmute events
- Timestamps for each segment
Live Transcription
NoteCat posts real-time transcript updates to the text channel, showing speaker names and what they said. Updates appear every few seconds.
After Recording
NoteCat automatically processes the audio and generates an AI summary and title. This takes a few minutes for long recordings. View it in your dashboard.
Required Permissions
- View Channels - see voice channels
- Connect - join voice channels
- Speak - receive audio
- Send Messages - post transcripts
Visibility Options
Default: visible to any Discord member with access to the voice channel where it was recorded. Change in dashboard:
- Channel - Any Discord member with voice channel access
- Private - Only you
- Public - Anyone with the link
